Tom Brady: New England Patriots Quarterback

Author: Bob Johnson

A native of San Mateo, California, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. was born on August 3, 1977. He is currently the quarterback of the NFLs New England Patriots. In his early years, Brady enjoyed watching professional football games. Attending San Francisco 49ers games on a regular basis during the 1980s, he quickly became a fan of then quarterback Joe Montana.

After graduating from Junipero Serra High School, Tom Brady chose to attend the University of Michigan who he led to a 1999 Orange Bowl victory. In light of his obvious talent, Brady found his way into the 2000 NFL Draft where he was selected in the 6th round by the New England Patriots. Since his affiliation with the team began, Tom Brady has helped lead the Patriots to three Super Bowl victories and, in the process, was awarded Super Bowl MVP recognition on two occasions. In 2005, Tom Brady was also named Sports Illustrateds Sportsman of the Year.

As far as accomplishments are concerned, Tom Brady holds a number of records, including the highest single-game and single-season quarterback rating, the NFL record for most consecutive wins in post season, most completions in a Super Bowl, etc.

The upcoming 2006 NFL season will mark the first since Bradys surgery to repair the sports hernia that he suffered earlier. After an extensive training regimen, Tom Brady plans to be back in action for the new season and hopes to help his teammates recover from the offseason loss of athletes who have since left the team. In addition to his obvious talent on the field, Tom Brady finds success in other ventures. Having guest-starred on The Simpsons, Family Guy and hosting a 2005 episode of Saturday Night Live are just a few of his notable accomplishments away from football. Brady has also appeared on the big screen with a cameo spot in the film Stuck On You, which was released in 2003. In January 2004, Tom Brady was welcomed as a guest of President George W. Bush to the annual State of the Union Address.
